Tagging Ecto

When I first started this site I preferred to use a desktop client to construct my items – quick spell check, local saves until ready and a rich editor that wasn’t slightly clunky and idiosyncratic. My tool of choice was ecto, as I have mentioned before.

Over the months I haven’t always been able to use it. WordPress upgrades would often break compatibility for starters and then with WordPress version 2, the default image storage locations were changed and ecto got left behind again although this was fixed in 2.0.1 by – I rather think – user demand.

But my most recent reason for abandoning ecto was when I started to use Ultimate Tag Warrior, surely the most common and successful tagging plugin for WordPress. Except that ecto could neither create nor download the tags.

Which is why I want to thank Robin Lu. Copy his code amendments and follow his simple instructions and ecto can handle the tags as if they were built in. An excellent and simple fix for a nagging problem.

Thanks Robin.
